Day 1-(Istanbul)
Today, we will depart early for Gaziantep. Our first stop will be at the Archaeological Museum, where we will have the opportunity to see the magnificent Zeugma Roman mosaics. Along the way, we will also visit Yesemek and Gumusler Monastery. We will spend the night in Gaziantep.
Day 2-(Gaziantep to Sanliurfa)
Today, we are heading to the ancient city of Sanli Urfa, the birthplace of Abraham. En route, we will visit the ruins of the Biblical Roman city of Zeugma, located by the Euphrates River. We will spend the night in Sanliurfa.
Day 3-(Sanliurfa to Adıyaman)
Today, we'll explore the 'City of Prophets,' starting with a tour of Abraham's caves, the pristine carp-filled pool, and the vibrant and lively silk bazaar. Afterward, we'll venture to nearby Harran to witness the remarkable beehive houses.
In the afternoon, as we make our way to Kahta, we'll make a brief stop at the Ataturk Dam, which ranks as the third-largest dam in the world. Following the tour, we will take an overnight bus to Adiyaman
Day 4-(Adıyaman)
Today promises to be an unforgettable journey as we head to Mardin, offering panoramic views of the vast Mesopotamian plains. Our day will begin with a visit to Mt. Nemrut and the mountaintop chapel of Antiochus I at daybreak. After the tour, we will take an overnight bus to Mardin.
Day 5-(Mardin)
This morning, we will explore Mardin with its intricately carved Arabic-style homes. Later, we will continue our journey to Hasankeyf to witness the Roman ruins of the ancient city of Cephe and the charming old town of Midyat. After a delightful meal by the Tigris River, we will depart for Tatvan, a small settlement on the shores of Lake Van. Here, we will enjoy a breathtaking sunset over the lake before continuing our journey to Van. We will take an overnight bus to reach our destination.
Day 6-(Van)
Today, we will take a ferry to Akdamar Island to explore the 10th-century Armenian Cathedral of the Holy Cross.
Day 7-(Ağrı)
Today, we embark on the historic Silk Road journey starting in Dogubeyazit, nestled at the foot of Mount Ararat, the tallest mountain in Anatolia, and believed to be the landing site of Noah's Ark. Our itinerary includes visits to Ishak Pasa Palace and the ancient Urartian city ruins of Eski Beyazit. Afterward, we'll continue our journey to Kars, where we will take an overnight bus.
Day 8-(Kars)
Early departure for the medieval city of Ani, located not far from the Turkish-Armenian border. During our visit, we'll explore the magnificent Kars Castle and nearby historic churches. Afterward, we'll take an overnight bus to Erzurum.
Day 9-(Erzurum)
Today, we embark on a scenic drive to the highlands of Erzurum. Along the way, we'll make stops at the Medieval Medrese, engage in conversation with the Imam at the Medieval Mosque, and explore the Ethnographic Museum.
Day 10-(Trabzon)
Today, we will embark on a delightful journey that takes us through the enchanting Karaca Cave to the ancient city of Trabzon, where we will have the opportunity to explore the magnificent Sumela Byzantine Monastery.
Day 11-(Trabzon to Istanbul)
Before our flight back to Istanbul, we will explore the historic city of Trabzon, once the capital of the Byzantine Empire.
