Tour Detail
Meet your guide at your hotel in Istanbul as you journey along the European coast toward the Gallipoli peninsula and take in the sights of the Sea of Marmara. After visiting the Kabatepe Information Center and Museum, go through the grounds' memorial gardens to see displays of the World War I soldiers' gear, weaponry, and letters.
Learn about the unique histories of the Ottoman and Allied forces, as well as the explanations for why some people refer to the Gallipoli campaign as a "Gentlemen's War." Visit the Nek and Johnston's Jolly, then keep an eye out for the defensive trenches that still run the length of the peninsula as you pay your respects to the fallen soldiers at the Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial and the Lone Pine Australian War Memorial.
